ANSWERED PRAYER
Scripture
But God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.

Historical Context
The psalmist was reflecting on a specific time when God had dramatically answered prayer, possibly delivering Israel from enemies or providing for them during a crisis. In ancient Israel, people understood prayer as real communication with a living God who actually intervenes in human affairs. This wasn’t just positive thinking or wishful hoping, but confident expectation that the God who created the universe cares about the details of His people’s lives and responds when they call out to Him in faith. Related Scriptures: 1 John 5:14-15 / Matthew 7:7
Application
God loves to answer prayer – not always in the way or timing you expect, but always in the way that’s best for you and His bigger purposes. Sometimes His answers are dramatic and obvious, sometimes they’re quiet and gradual, and sometimes His “no” or “wait” turns out to be the most loving response possible. Looking back on your prayer life, you’ll likely find more answered prayers than you initially realized, including prayers you forgot you even prayed and needs God met before you even asked.
Reflection
- What prayers has God answered in your life that you might have forgotten to thank Him for? How did His response whether “yes,” “no,” or “wait” – ultimately show His love and wisdom?
- Think about a prayer you’re waiting for God to answer right now. How might His timing or method be different from what you expect, and how can you trust His heart even while you wait?
- If you really believed that God hears every prayer and responds with perfect love and wisdom, how would that change what you pray about, how often you pray, and how you handle His answers?

Prayer
Faithful God,
Thank You for the incredible privilege of prayer and for all the ways You’ve answered my prayers throughout my life. Help me to remember and celebrate the prayers You’ve said “yes” to, trust Your wisdom in the “no” answers, and wait patiently for Your perfect timing.
Give me faith to bring both big and small worries to You, knowing that You care about every detail of my life.
When I’m discouraged about unanswered prayers, remind me of Your perfect love and timing.
In Jesus Name, Amen
