Fear isn’t from God – so why do we let it Control Us?
Fear is a natural emotion that everyone experiences. It can protect us from danger, but it can also hold us back from fulfilling our purpose, especially when it manifests itself as the fear of failure, rejection, or the unknown..
Fear can paralyze us, preventing us from stepping out in faith.
In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul reminds Timothy—and us—that fear doesn’t come from God. Instead, God gives us power, love, and a sound mind to confront fear, overcome it, and live boldly.
Fear doesn’t have to control our lives. Trust in God’s promises, and let Him guide you whenever you feel afraid.
Today’s Bible Verse

Understanding 2 Timothy 1:7
Today’s scripture comes from a letter that Paul wrote to Timothy, a young leader in the early church, who was facing difficult challenges.
Paul encourages him by stating that God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear. The “spirit of fear” refers to a mindset of timidity or cowardice. Instead, God gives:
- Power: The strength to face challenges and fulfill our calling.
- Love: The ability to care for others and act selflessly.
- Sound Mind: Self-discipline and clear thinking to make wise decisions.
These gifts enable us to overcome fear and live according to God’s purpose.
