June Bible Reading Plan: Trusting God’s Perfect Timing

If you enjoy this bible study, please support us by sharing it with your friends!

If the May’s Bible reading plan left you feeling secure in the Father’s love, you might now be facing a question that often comes next: “If God is such a good Father, why is He making me wait?

If you’ve ever felt like God’s timing is completely off, you are in excellent company! Some of the Bible’s greatest heroes of faith knew this feeling all too well.

Abraham and Sarah waited decades for the son that was promised to them (a wait so long that they tried to force a solution on their own).

Joseph lived in slavery for years, all while clinging to a dream God had given him as a boy.

Moses spent 40 years in the wilderness, and David was anointed king long before he ever wore the crown. Each of these stories are very human stories about doubt, questioning, and ultimately faith.

If that’s where you are, this June’s Bible reading plan was made just for you! We’re going to spend the month diving into one of the most practical and challenging parts of faith: trusting God’s timing.

I hope that by the end of this 30-day reading plan, you won’t just have information about God’s timing, but you’ll have a renewed confidence in it. You will be able to see that His timing is intentional, purposeful, and rooted in His perfect love and wisdom, even when it doesn’t make any logical sense to us.

What we learn through waiting

It’s very easy to think of waiting as an empty space – almost like a hallway between a closed and open door. But the Bible shows us that God uses this time actively, and He is never late.

Often when we wait, He is doing His deepest work in us. He builds our perseverance, dismantles our self-reliance, aligns our desires with His, and teaches us to be content in His presence and with what we have.

This month, I hope that, as you read through the Scriptures, you’ll be able to reframe waiting from a passive state of frustration to a time of anticipation, watching for what God is doing both around us and within us.

How to Use This Plan as both a reading and Writing (or Journaling) Guide

June’s plan doesn’t just need to be about reading; you can use it as a tool for honest reflection through journaling. When you write out each Scripture and take time to really engage with it, you can turn a quick Bible reading into a much deeper experience.

Here are some ideas on how to get started:

  • Copy the Verse: Start by physically writing out the day’s verse in a journal. This simple act of copying forces you to slow down, process each word, and notice details you might skim over when just reading. It’s a way of “marinating” in the truth.
  • Talk It Out (The “What?”): Write a few sentences in your own words about what the verse means. What is the core truth it’s communicating? What specific word or phrase stands out to you today? Why do you think it resonates?
  • Reflect and Apply: This is where the deep work happens. Ask yourself questions like:
    • What does this passage teach me about God’s character and what He does during times of waiting?
    • How does this truth directly challenge or comfort me in my current situation?
    • Is there an example to follow, a warning to heed, or a promise to claim?
    • What’s one tangible, small step I can take today to actively choose trust over frustration or anxiety?
  • Pray It Through: Finish off your writing with a short prayer. Be honest with God about your struggles. Thank Him for the truth in the verse, and ask Him for the grace to believe and live it out.

A Sneak Peek: What You’ll Read Each Week

Here’s a quick summary of what we’ll cover this June:

  • Week 1: The Foundation of Trust – The ‘Who’ Before the ‘When’. We can’t trust God’s timing if we don’t trust His character. This week, we’ll take a look at scriptures that teach us about God’s goodness, faithfulness, wisdom, and why we can trust Him even if we can’t see the path ahead.
  • Week 2: Waiting Well – Lessons from the Spiritual Hall of Fame. Learning from people in the Bible who waited (some gracefully, some… not so much).
  • Week 3: Being Patient – Simple ways to stay hopeful when you’re tired of waiting.
  • Week 4: Promises Kept – Celebrating the fact that God always keeps His promises.
