Sometimes in life it can truly feel like we are simply trying to keep everything together and with one wrong move everything will come crashing down.
This can leave you feeling tired, not just physically tired, but emotional and spiritually exhausted too.
Matthew 11:28 is a beautiful reminder that we don’t have to carry these heavy loads all by ourselves. Jesus invites us to come to Him when we’re feeling worn out and overwhelmed.
He doesn’t say we need to fix anything first or that we need to have it all together.
He just says, “Come”.
When we come to Jesus in prayer and give him our burdens, He promises to give us rest. This rest isn’t just about taking a break or getting more sleep, it’s a deep peace that fills our hearts and minds and reminds us that we are not alone, and that God is in control, even when life feels chaotic.
Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Pin Me!

Historical Context:
When Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest,” He was speaking to people who were tired and struggling. Life was hard!
Besides working hard just to survive they also felt heavy spiritual struggles. The religious leaders at the time, the Pharasees, had added legalistic rules and laws that made it very difficult for the people to feel close to God or to find peace.
Instead of helping people, the leaders made them feel guilty and overwhelmed, as if they could never live up to God’s standards or do enough to please Him.
In the middle of this, Jesus offered them something completely different. He didn’t tell the people to try harder or do more. Instead, he invited them to come to Him and rest!
He wanted them to stop worrying about following endless rules and to find rest for their souls by trusting Him instead.
